The dial fell from the sky<\/h2>\n

About a million years ago, an iron meteorite fell in what is now northern Sweden. Inside are nickel-iron crystals that grew over millions of years as the core of a small planet slowly cooled. Etched with acid, they form Widmanst\u00e4tten patterns, a structure that cannot be made on Earth.<\/p>\n

Each dial is cut from this meteorite in the Czech Republic. Every slice shows a different part of the crystal, so every Rivus dial is one of a kind.<\/p>\n

Small Czech workshops. One watchmaker.<\/h2>\n

A Rivus watch is the work of a few people who are each very good at one thing. A small engineering workshop in the Czech Republic makes the case to our own design. The meteorite dial is made in the Czech Republic too, and a saddler from northern Moravia stitches the leather strap by hand.<\/p>\n

Our watchmaker, Tom\u00e1\u0161 Poto\u010dek, then assembles every watch by hand around a Swiss Sellita SW200 automatic movement and checks it before it leaves. The assembly alone takes about four hours; most of the time goes into everything before it.<\/p>\n
